Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hard surfaces
A resurgent Medvedev claimed his first trophy for nearly 30 months with victory over Corentin Moutet in the tournament final.
The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a challenging period, achieving just one match at the major tournaments and undergoing a setback at the American major.
Medvedev's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serve in specific - resulted in him dropping out of the world's top 10 and ultimately splitting with long-term trainer his previous coach.
Currently training with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually improved in the recent weeks - climaxing in a closely contested competitive triumph over opponent Corentin Moutet.
This represents Medvedev's maiden trophy after the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard surface since March of the previous year.
Success also signifies Medvedev has secured 21 victories at twenty-one distinct tournaments.
"It's the first time I have attended a competition with my two daughters at once, so to secure a trophy is especially meaningful," stated world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.
"This victory is in tribute of my child her name, because the first title I achieved when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."
The athlete, the past champion, had lost his past six finals, featuring in that event in the past months.
His retrieving strategy and regular outbursts on court had led commentators to question if his capacity to compete at the top level was over.
However the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the past month, striving to come to the net and compete assertively, backed up by an improved service.
Medvedev came back from a disadvantage in the first set against the difficult Frenchman, securing 4 of the concluding five points to go ahead.
The competitors swapped service breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, bidding for his maiden ATP Tour championship, took control to push for a final set.
Moutet saved 4 early break points in a close third set before the Russian broke to that score to close out the victory.
Fittingly, Medvedev earned the win with a rally at the net, with Moutet failing to control a volley after a lengthy match.
