Authorities stated they were alerted by a man who noticed a vehicle in Hanau covered with red-colored liquid

Approximately 50 vehicles have been covered with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.

Vehicles, exterior walls and postboxes were vandalized, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they stated in a statement.

Law enforcement report they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a individual observed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued substance.

The substance had been applied in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they added.

Officers then located multiple other marked vehicles and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

These symbols are illegal in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.

Officials say initial examinations indicate the fluid was probably human blood.

"Currently there is no indication as to its source; authorities are presently not aware of any physical harm in connection with the occurrence," they stated.

Local authorities said they were trying "to unravel the case" and have requested to the residents for tips.

An important official said the incident rendered him without words and required to be resolved promptly.

"This incident affects the core of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the right-wing violent incident in 2020," he wrote on a platform, mentioning the murder of nine individuals by a shooter focusing on individuals of foreign heritage in 2020.
